Job Description

Join UChicago Medicine, as a Student Pharmacy Intern in the Inpatient Pharmacy. In this role as a Student Pharmacy Intern, you will have the opportunity to improve your pharmacotherapeutic knowledge and gain experience and confidence, counseling patients across a wide variety of disease states. Our Outpatient Pharmacy is known for providing speciality pharmacy services and supporting outpatient needs as well. We are dedicated to providing you with the personal service necessary to ensure that you achieve the most benefit from your medical therapy. 

 

Job Summary

 

Essential Job Functions 

 

  • Delivering medications and providing counseling to all patients who are being discharged with new prescriptions

  • Providing acute and comprehensive information about medications and addressing any concerns the patient or
    patient’s family may have
  • Filling prescriptions in the pharmacy
  • Retrieving hard copies of prescriptions in patients’ charts
  • Interacting with members of the interdisciplinary team – physicians, nurses, case management, and social work to
    coordinate and collaborate on efficient and effective medication therapy management

 

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician License
  • Student currently enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Preferred one year of pharmacy experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting

 

Position Details 

  • Job Type/FTE: Registry/Part Time
  • Shift: part-time/weekends, you may work Saturday, Sunday, both days, or neither day on any given weekend.
  • Unit/Department: Inpatient Pharmacy
  • CBA Code:  Non-Union 

 

In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 8-16 hours per week.  We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the variable shift, & will not be scheduled for on-call shifts.  We anticipate you will be scheduled to work 100% at the Hyde Park campus.  The days you will be scheduled are part-time/weekends, you may work Saturday, Sunday, both days, or neither day on any given weekend.
