About the role

At CES, we have ambitious targets to keep billions of drink containers out of landfill and transform them into resources that can be used again and again.

As the Senior BI Developer at CES, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining our data infrastructure, together with our Data Engineers. You will work closely with internal cross-functional teams and external clients to understand and tease out their data requirements and implement robust, value-adding dashboarding and reporting. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analytics and a deep understanding of data architecture. Our data platform is based on Power BI with Snowflake hosted in Azure Cloud.

Our data team is technically flexible to a rapidly changing business and tech environment, builds strong and ongoing relationships both remotely and in person with key internal stakeholders and external clients, and works collaboratively with stakeholders on analytical challenges.  You will own a problem from start to finish and use modern enterprise data tech and approaches. 

While we work with modern, enterprise-level data technology and infrastructure, we are a small-to-medium-sized business that provides data services to diverse internal stakeholders and external clients as one of our business offereings, so some experience in client-facing consulting organisations would support success in this role!

Description

The key deliverables of the role:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards to meet the diverse needs of internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Work closely with business users to understand their reporting requirements and translate them into effective visualisations.
  • Pro-actively engage with internal and external business partners to establish needs and priorities.
  • Capture business requirements and process flows and guide business requirement gathering where needed.
  • Ensure all features/change are described and documented to standards.
  • Ensure L3 incidents for are actioned by the team or external partners within SLA’s.
  • Develop analytical solutions to meet business requirement.
  • Work in an agile methodology against our Jira Backlog.
  • Pro-actively engage with cross-functional product and platform teams to ensure alignment, support, and stability of the Data platform
  • Support the major incident response team for P1 and critical or sensitive P2 incidents.


Skills And Experiences

About you:

  • In-depth knowledge of Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, and Power Query.
  • Experience in optimising Power BI performance for large datasets.
  • Familiarity with other BI tools and data visualisation techniques.
  • Strong Knowledge of SQL and database management systems (e.g., Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
  • Knowledge of Enterprise System Architecture.
  • Strong experience with data warehouse methodologies/data modelling and technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
  • Expertise in analysing data sets, quantitative analysis, data mining and creating visualisations of data to tell stories.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce requirement artefacts: Business Requirements, Functional Specifications, data flow diagrams, ERD diagrams, APIs, interface designs, test plans and test cases.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Bonus points for:

  • Consulting experience, working with external clients to provide BI solutions 
  • Power BI certification.
  • Knowledge of DBT, Fivetran, Azure Data Factory is an advantage.
