Education / Experience\: Must be currently enrolled in a School of Pharmacy. Previous pharmacy experience preferred. 

License / Certification required\: Registered as a Pharmacy Intern/Extern with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\: 
• Proficient in needed pharmaceutical calculations and the metric system.
• Knowledge of Non-sterile compounding techniques. 
• Able to administer Patient counseling. 
• Administering vaccinations. 
• Completing financial reports. 
• Accessing store operations reports (DOR). 
• Dispensing of medications.
• Ability to accurately enter patient data and Third Party insurance information.

Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Intern is able to perform all job functions of a Pharmacist and a Pharmacy Technician as pursuant to the rules and regulations set forth by the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy.  Pharmacy interns assist the Pharmacist in dispensing medications, counseling patients, maintaining appropriate patient profiles and insurance data, receiving verbal orders from physicians, giving copies and transfers, and preparing compounded substances.
