Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a Construction Enginer for its Denver, CO office.

 

The Construction Engineer will be responsible for the management of water, wastewater, utility, heavy civil, and building project and design construction oversight in the Denver Metropolitan area. The CM will perform tasks such as on-site project management and construction inspection, project coordination, project controls, and contract administration. The CM must be flexible, client focused and capable of working independently under the supervision of project managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor contractor operations for compliance with contract plans, provisions, and specifications
  • Coordinate and schedule various phases of construction inspection with the prime contractor and other agencies
  • Oversee traffic control, SWPPP implementation, and project compliance
  • Proactive in identifying field issues and discuss solutions with supervisor
  • Collaborative approach to working in a team that includes the owner and contractor
  • Prepare and process construction records, including RFI’s, submittals, field measurements for progress pay applications, extra work billings, and contract change orders
  • Document all field activities, work in a collaborative manner with the owner and contractor and represent Dewberry and our clients in the highest capacity
  • Project schedule adherence and use of Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, Microsoft Project or equivalent
  • Weekly OAC meetings, meeting minutes, and documentation
  • Weekly and monthly project reporting
  • Punchlist management, warranty review, and project closeout
  • Work in a very timely fashion to meet project requirements
  • Communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, and agency review staff. Additional requirements include excellent communications skills, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications

Required Skills & Required Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Considerable knowledge of engineering and construction principles related to water, wastewater, pipeline, building, and road/bridge construction. Ability to ensure compliance with and follow standard safety practices and procedures common to construction work. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, clients, and the public. Ability to aid in project budgets, proposals, and manage job costs. Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time.

  • B.S. in Construction Management or Engineering preferred
  • 3 - 6 years of experience in Construction Management and Project Administration
  • Experience in Microsoft office is preferred
  • Ability to communicate with clients and the public and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or clients
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal skills

 

The projected range for this position is $69,000-$130,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.

 

Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
