As the Vice President of Legal Affairs, you will play a critical role in spearheading and guiding all legal, secretarial and corporate governance related work streams. You will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters, compliance, customer dispute management and will provide strategic legal advice to support the company's growth objectives.


Legal Strategy and Counsel:

   Provide strategic legal advice to the management on overall business goals (where relevant) and other departments on potential new business streams or offerings which may require prior legal/compliance sign off.
•   There will be an intersection of policy work with legal   ramifications   and you will work closely with the corporate affairs function and represent the company at industry federation interactions.  
   Manage a talented team of empowered individuals who have been running this function so far.

Litigation Management : 

•.  Collaborate with external legal counsel and industry counterparts to manage litigation matters and represent the company's interests in across various key high stakes legal proceedings in the Supreme Court and High Courts.


Fund raising and inorganic growth:

•   Work closely with the CFO/strategy teams on fund raises and take ownership and lead the documentation process including in-house DD, definitive documents and closing action items.  
  • Conduct due diligence and assess legal risks associated with inorganic growth opportunities.


Regulatory Compliance:

•   Stay abreast of laws and regulations in India that is relevant and has an impact on the business (ranging from data protection, tax, state gaming laws etc).
•.  Ensure the company's compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.

Contracts and Agreements:

•.  Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of a variety of contracts, including licensing agreements, partnerships, and other vendor arrangements.
•   Manage and streamline contract review processes to enhance efficiency.

Compliance Training:

•.  Develop and implement compliance training programs for employees to ensure awareness and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.







Requirements

Qualifications:


Degree from a reputable law school. Any additional degrees are a plus. 
Admitted to the Bar in India with a minimum of 12 years of legal experience.
Prior corporate law and M&A experience is necessary. Litigation experience is a plus. 
Demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal counsel to executive leadership.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.  Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and volatile sector.
