TRANSPORT PLANNER
We are actively recruiting a transport planner for one of our leading clients in the London Heathrow area. Our client was established in 2003 and manages the supply chain of temperature-controlled perishable goods. The optimization and control of its processes allows it today to guarantee the total satisfaction of its industrial customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Liaising with import & export team, and third party in house customers regarding airline collections.
- Communicating effectively with customers to keep them informed of the progress of their deliveries.
- Organizing planning of vehicle availability for vehicle service schedule and maintenance/repairs of vehicles and trailers, such as creating schedules and monitoring associated costs.
- Reviewing practices to ensure that transport is utilized using the most cost-effective solution
- Using third party hauliers to cover loads beyond capacity of fleet.
- Managing Day board, ensure this is updated for all consignments, with driver details and vehicle registrations.
- Managing the import inventory within Multished, ensure Status 1 and BI’s are completed.
- Completing customer reports, of Status 1, time collected, and time back to the facility.
- Have an awareness of industry compliance and relevant legislation that the operation is subject to.
- Answering any incoming phone calls and dealing with them in the appropriate way.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Managers CPC Qualification is an advantage but not essential.
- Knowledge of driver’s hours/working time directive regulations.
- The successful candidate will ideally have 3 years minimum experience of working within the UK transport industry with good geographical knowledge of the UK would also be beneficial.
- You must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office / Excel
CHARACTERISTICS
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to liaise effectively with drivers, subcontractors, customers, work colleagues and members of the public is a requirement.
- Working under your own initiative regularly is a large part of the role after full training has been given.
- The individual would need to have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to adapt to a fast-paced changeable environment and to take responsibility for decisions made at short notice as and when required.
- The applicant will need to have very good organizational skills to keep on top of a variety of essential time specific tasks.
