This is a key leadership role in the Porton USA organization, responsible for creating the Business Development and Commercial strategy, and will have a strategic approach with excellent business acumen and the ability to align strategies and recommendations with commercial / BD objectives. Responsibilities: (This job description is subject to change as the company deems fit)

New Business and Sales -

Lead America's sales strategy inclusive of service opportunities, strategic partnerships, commercial market segments, and business development initiatives.
Lead the sales process from prospect identification to close of business including; lead generation, responding to RFPs, proposals, terms and conditions/contracting, and negotiations.
Respond to incoming API pharmaceutical leads and inquiries from multi-sources, and qualify through business analysis, customer evaluations, and strategic fit.
Lead formulation development and drug product R&D & manufacturing operations from early to late development through commercialization.
Prospect, network, and make contacts with potential customers by visiting and or other marketing activities, attending industry conferences and tradeshows to expand Porton's reputation and seek out new leads from existing to new customers.
Collaborate internally and externally to facilitate the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships.
Collaborate with Marketing to develop campaigns and analyze inbound marketing data/trends to drive new business.
Build long-term trusting relationships with customers, in cooperation with BUs and other Porton functions to ensure professional and efficient transfers of agreed business, in line with customers’ requirements and with expected profitability for Porton.
Represent the company at various community and/or business meetings to promote the company, organize market research and collect customers’ project information.
Work closely with the internal technical & CMC team to meet client project requirements leading to the closing of contracts.
Utilize CRM software to accurately track and update leads, contacts, opportunities, proposals, business development activities, and projects.

Team Leadership –

Instill operational excellence and accountability in team members through effective program management, performance metrics, and other management tools including team charters, project plans, and meeting management.
Translate mission, vision, and values into actionable goals and objectives and provides effective structure, direction, and feedback.
Inspire, develop, and engage team staff to leverage abilities, and build a sense of belonging for the team.
Manage synergy with line functions with regard to business & plan objectives, resources, and budget allocation in partnership with Porton group.

Requirements:

MS, Ph.D. in organic chemistry, pharmacy, and chemical engineering is a plus.
Minimum of 20 years of business development experience in the CDMO industry is required.
Extensive experience in selling CDMO services for big pharma and biotech companies in the States.
Proven track record of sales leadership (large BD scope), early and late phase drug substance development, and drug product manufacturing experience of small molecules.
Knowledge of cGMP, API, and drug development process of small molecules.
Must have demonstrated experience in leading others in a direct and highly matrixed and fast-growing CDMO/CRO organization.
Must demonstrate exceptional leadership abilities including organizational awareness, business acumen, political astuteness, influencing/negotiations, decision-making ability, conflict resolution, and positive motivation and courage.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Experience with Chinese pharmaceutical companies is a plus.
Experience in internationalizing a Chinese business into global markets would be an added benefit.
