Director of Manufacturing Technology to lead a talented team of technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who play a critical role in driving new business, supporting project execution, and advancing technical excellence across our operations.
Role Summary
The
Director of Manufacturing Technology will lead a diverse team responsible for advancing technical capabilities and ensuring alignment with business objectives. This role encompasses three primary areas:
- Supporting New Business Wins: Partnering with Sales and Engineering teams to develop accurate and competitive technical quotes, assess new technologies, and align capabilities with customer needs.
- Project Execution: Integrating technical SMEs into project teams to ensure robust execution of customer projects, from design transfer to manufacturing readiness.
- Technical Standardization & Continuous Improvement: Driving standardization across manufacturing technologies, processes, and systems while identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.
This is a high-impact role that requires strategic vision, operational expertise, and strong leadership skills to enhance our technical capabilities and ensure consistent delivery of exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of technical SMEs to achieve organizational objectives.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across technical teams.
- Set clear goals and expectations for team performance and professional growth.
New Business Support
- Collaborate with Sales and Engineering to evaluate technical feasibility and prepare accurate quotes for new business opportunities.
- Assess and recommend new manufacturing technologies to enhance capabilities and support strategic growth.
- Engage with customers as a technical expert to ensure alignment of technical solutions with their needs.
Project Support
- Assign technical SMEs to project teams to ensure successful execution of customer projects.
- Oversee the integration of technical expertise into project planning, execution, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards in project delivery.
Technical Standardization & CIP
- Drive standardization of manufacturing technologies, processes, and practices across sites.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, quality, and scalability.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align on technical best practices and solutions.
Strategic Planning
- Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s strategic goals as they relate to manufacturing technology.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends to identify future opportunities for innovation.
- Collaborate with leadership to align technical capabilities with organizational objectives and customer needs.
Qualifications Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (Master’s or advance degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven experience in the medical device or contract manufacturing industry preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of manufacturing technologies, processes, and equipment, particularly in regulated industries.
- Experience in quoting, feasibility assessments, and new technology evaluation.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational alignment.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, internal teams, and executive leadership.
