Summary:
The Vice President of Finance partners with the executive team to achieve the company’s business goals, as well as increase the Pharmerica Specialty Solutions (PSS) organization’s value by developing and guiding a progressive finance team. This position will provide leadership and maintain critical control of all the strategic and day-to-day aspects of finance, accounting, revenue cycle management, budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning and business analytics.
The Vice President Finance is the spokesperson for all financial issues and opportunities and will oversee strategic and tactical matters as they relate to the organization’s finance, budget, contract management, cost analysis, reporting, forecasting, and M&A activity.
Major Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Office of the President to develop and execute financial and accounting strategies, processes and systems that support the company’s objectives;
- Take an active role on the Office of the President’s leadership team (and PharMerica’s leadership team) in setting the strategic plan and taking on bold initiatives that will enhance PSS’s offering;
- Lead all financial management, budgeting, forecasting, capital planning and management, long-range planning, analytics, accounting, revenue cycle, purchasing, and accounts payable functions;
- Partners with functional leaders on evaluating and implementing revenue maximization and acceleration, cost management and profit improvement programs;
- Attract, develop, and retain a high performing team to meet the current and evolving needs of the business through effective selection, training, and development, coaching and mentoring and performance management;
- Provide leadership and development support to the team in training, feedback, encouragement, and hands-on assistance;
- Oversee payor network contract underwriting, reimbursement auditing, and management of the Medicare Direct and Indirect Remuneration (DIR) model and reconciliations;
- Introduce systems, procedures, and processes to the organization and within the financial and accounting functions that will maintain a proper balance between overall Leadership Competencies:

- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting and closing processes;
- Ensure revenue cycle management and inventory management processes are tight;
- Develop timely and meaningful analytic capabilities and reporting tools that serve to support, measure, and ensure positive performance;
- Establish, monitor, and manage PSS’s budget;
- Take a leadership role in pricing PSS’s products and services; understand the competitive environment and strategically come up with ways to analyze and maximize the economics for our business;
- Support the field sales effort and be involved in strategic pricing discussions; new business and retention efforts;
- Oversee the development of new and enhanced management reporting capabilities, including dashboards and other meaningful operating reports;
- Present financial updates to the key stakeholders e.g., the leadership team of PharMerica, the Board etc.;
- Actively engage in leadership meetings with the entire PSS team and PharMerica team, providing valuable insights and support to other company efforts;
- Manage outside vendor relationships and contracts;
- Support future M&A activities through opportunity exploration, due diligence and integration strategies
Position Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- BS in finance or accounting with an MBA/CPA preferred;
- 10-15 years progressive finance experience. Five plus years as a divisional or stand-alone SVP or VP of Finance & Accounting. Experienced in managing dotted line functions, such as accounting, to maintain alignment with the business needs;
- Deep experience in pharmacy services; 10-15 years in progressive roles for a Specialty Pharmacy, PBM or other pharmacy services company; Working experience with Medicare DIR programs, fees, accruals and recoupment strategies.
- Experience with pharma manufacturer “hub” services and hospital program management a plus;
- Understands the complexity of the pharma trade, pharmacy operations and IT functions; respected for their appreciation of the work others do;
- Experience putting metrics in place to monitor organization performance; reputation for building, developing, and retaining top performing finance and accounting teams;
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written; executive presence and comfortable presenting to leadership and the Board;
- A hands-on leader with a proven track record of leading a financial and accounting function focused on delivering sustainable results;
- Unquestioned level of personal integrity and ethics;
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
