Terns Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing a

We have an exciting opportunity within Medical Affairs for an Associate Director, Medical Affairs
Operations & Patient Advocacy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate will work in partnership with the Director, Medical Affairs and the Leadership
Team to manage relevant departmental operations and long-term advocacy relationships.
- Proactively build and maintain relationships with patients, caregivers, and
advocates for people living with metabolic diseases and cancer around Terns’
pipeline products with majority of responsibilities focused on chronic myeloid
leukemia and other upcoming oncology programs
- Serve as the lead relationship manager for Community/Patient Advocacy and
caregiver groups as well as other relevant external stakeholders
- Work in association with cross-functional partners to coordinate the development
and implementation of a comprehensive patient advocacy and engagement
strategy, aligned with Medical Affairs objectives.
▪ Cross-functional partners will include but not be limited to: Public
Relations, Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Clinical Research,
Regulatory, Legal, and Business Development
- Drive strategic coalition building among key advocacy partners to support
organizational capacity building for patient identification, screening, and linkage
to care
- Identify and develop strategic alliances with Community/Advocacy organizations
and relevant stakeholders
- Support bi-directional communication between Terns and Patient Advocacy
groups to understand and identify unmet needs and priorities
- Develop internal and external communication strategies to drive visibility of
community advocates' priorities related to disease education and awareness.
- Represent advocacy stakeholders' perspectives in the discovery, development,
and delivery of Terns therapeutic products.
- Collaborate with Public Affairs, Corporate, and Employee Communications to
drive an external communications plan for community education and disease
awareness and clinical milestones
- Participation in Therapeutic Area Cross-Functional teams as the Medical Affairs
expert
- Managing the logistical support for Medical Affairs programs, including but not
limited to:
▪ R&D Post-Conference Debrief
▪ Congress Planning: Serve as the key point of contact
▪ Pre- and Post-Congress Training Coordination
- Provide support for the following Medical Affairs systems and applications
▪ Learning Management System
▪ Medical Affairs website
Knowledge/Skills
- Bachelors degree with 6 years of relevant experience or Masters degree with 3 years
of experience or Ph.D. or PharmD with 1 year of experience required.
- Strong demonstrated excellence in developing/growing a functional area
- Demonstrated success in influencing individuals, and groups outside the immediate
control
- Success in managing highly complex multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in patient advocacy, community engagement, and issues management
- Prior experience in communications or medical affairs is highly desired
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal customers and crossfunctional teams
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to interact with senior management, academic experts and patient advocates
appropriately, with confidence and ease
- A passion for engaging in public health and policy issues
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 - $190,000 + bonus + equity +
benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on
each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position
across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and
additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
