JOB SUMMARY:   24 bed telemetry PCU specializes in the care of Hospitalist Medicine patients with a focus on renal and a variety of other medical diagnoses. They serve as an alternate unit for GI, Pulmonary and other surgical/procedural patients being covered by Hospitalists. This unit can take 2 chronically ventilated patients. Supports company hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities.

  1. Provides day to day leadership for successful implementation of goals and objectives for a department. Responsibilities include daily throughput of unit, patient experience rounding, employee rounding for engagement, quality monitoring of unit, planning of budget and managing expenses.
  2. Communicates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, coaches and problem solve with reporting staff to ensure that goals and objectives are met. (Quality, Patient Experience, Employee Engagement, and Throughput)
  3. Works with other department leaders to carry out new health care services and performance improvement initiatives. Positively and appropriately represents Carilion Clinic at public and professional meetings.
  4. May provide direct patient care or assist employees in overall care of patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduate of school of professional nursing. Bachelor’s degree required. BSN required for clinical nursing areas falling under the scope of Magnet reporting.
Experience:  3-5 years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
License/Certification/Registry:  Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. AHA BLS-HCP required.

May be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit. In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, de-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained going forward.
