Job Description

The Vice President, Pharmacy Service Segment (PSS) Strategic Initiatives is responsible for leading the business units focused on optimizing the benefits of capability investments necessary to achieve the segment strategy on behalf of consumers, colleagues, and the enterprise. These business units comprise the PSS Value Realization Office, which are responsible for developing business plans and deliver results promoting expansion of PBM Revenue and EBIT contribution. Drive strategy to ensure revenue and profit across all of PBM lines of business (employer and health plan payer customers. This leader is expected to comprehend the cross-functional relationships of people, process, and technology necessary to execute on our commitments and put forward recommendations for prioritizing investments in core and growth capabilities plus the monitoring of KPIs to indicate achievement of strategic outcomes. Lead coordination with the Strategy team to understand key outcomes timing and measurement methods is an essential aspect in the scoring of the portfolio of initiatives to be recommended to the Investment Committee for funding. The VP will also prioritize programs and initiatives for inflight reviews (IFR) and put forward solutions to optimize the performance of the program and maximize the timely recognition of benefits. This includes technology development schedule and budgets, resource availability, and the viability of the go to market strategy amongst other healthy program attributes.

Developing a total cost of ownership view and the ability to articulate the associated impacts of the costs and savings to the financial plan should be conveyed as part of the review, approval, and ongoing management of delivering on the business cases for large strategic programs.
Facilitates a process for new concept development, vetting of project/programs through a rigorous stage gate process, capital planning recommendations, portfolio optimization and value capture of approved initiatives.

Engage senior level executives and their business delivery leads in the creation and tracking of consumer-centric capability development roadmaps, business cases, and key performance indicators that map directly back to the segment and enterprise strategy. This includes working across the enterprise to understand overlapping, adjacent and competing initiatives, in order to prioritize recommended workstreams and their projects that deliver on strategic vision.
Guide and connect enablement partners in HR, IT, Digital, Marketing, Caremark Service Excellence (CSX), Data and Analytics, and Finance as necessary in the development of initiated concepts in order to objectively prioritize recommendations to the PSS Investment Committee.

Required Qualifications

15+ years of professional management or in roles requiring capital expenditures, portfolio management
Strong knowledge of the PBM industry
Proven financial acumen, including capital planning processes, value realization, and ability to identify action required to achieve budget goals and financial targets.
Experience managing large-scale projects in complex business environments
People Management experience
Capable of ensuring accountability from strategy to execution
Extensive experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving product/feature innovation
Knowledge of PBM systems (e.g. RxClaim, PeopleSafe, and SFDC) will be valued
Exercise sound business judgment to achieve proper balance between consumer, colleague, and CVS Caremark profitability.
