A healthcare system is hiring a Nurse Director of Perioperative Services to function as a strong team leader. The Nurse Director oversees nursing teams comprised of 170+ FTEs at two hospital locations. The ideal Surgical Services Director is an experienced servant leader with a proven history of successfully implementing and maintaining programs in the OR setting.

The Nurse Director of Surgical and Perioperative Services must hold the nursing team accountable, establish clear metrics, and maintain a collaborative, patient-centered team approach. This nurse leader will achieve the unit's goals through partnership with the VP, Perioperative Services, and Chief of Surgery.

Responsibilities of the Nurse Director Surgical Services, Perioperative:

Oversee all nursing aspects of Pre-Op, OR, PACU, Endo, and Ambu Surgery Center (ASC) service lines
24/7 management of 170+ FTEs at two hospital locations.
Hire, schedule, train, mentor, and evaluate surgical unit nursing staff
Develop a partnership with PACU, OR, ASC, and Endo managers to delegate responsibilities evenly throughout perioperative units
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including, Physicians, Surgeons, Case Managers, and Advanced Practice Nurses to achieve optimal levels of health
Report to VP, Perioperative Services to review practice, communicate and stay on track with goals
Evaluate and create goals focused on standardization of high-quality care throughout the units
Utilize resources such as robotic-assisted surgery for minimally invasive techniques where possible
Implement plans focused on department expansion, including growing service lines in the ASC and opening of hybrid rooms
Collaborate with Chief of Surgery to create a team-based work environment focused on high reliability and engagement
Prepare and adhere to operational and financial budgets, establishing fiscal accountability throughout units
Promote evidence-based nursing practice for perioperative patients, including pre and post-surgery
Communicate kindly and respectfully with patients and families
Ensure continued safety and compliance based on guidelines set by organizations such as The Joint Commission

Requirements for the Nurse Director Surgical Services, Perioperative:

Master's of Science in Nursing MSN required
Current RN license in Massachusetts
7+ years of OR/surgical, perioperative services experience
CVOR RN experience is a plus!
Current CNOR certification
5+ years of progressive nursing management experience
Active member wit AORN
DNS-CT, CDONA, or related Director of Nursing certifications are a plus!
Results-oriented, progressive leader with proven ability to increase metrics
